About the Author
Hello and Welcome!

My name is Susan Catt. I was born April 18, 1954 to very capable and devoted parents. I had a wonderful childhood that I would not trade for any possible other. The lessons I learned and the qualities I came away with have been invaluable. My family lived a sustainable lifestyle which means that I grew up on wild game, fish and fowl, home grown vegetables, fruits and meats, and most important, solid ethics and morals. My many experiences with a menagerie of living things from rabbits, to Daphne, from horses, to goats, and dogs to cats and mice and ducks taught me how to understand the inner workings of others while my family taught me how to be capable and persevering.
I trained horses for most of my life doing what I love to do more than anything else in the world. Against all odds, I carved out a living training horses while raising my daughter as a single parent. At the same time I bred Spanish Mustang horses. They were elegant, beautiful, poetic in motion multi-gaited Spanish type horses. Each with a generous friendly and humorous personality. The line I favored has all but died out and I no longer want to breed horses. As for horses I am now taking a sebatical. We’ll see what the future holds. I love them dearly and will remain involved with horses in some form… maybe making saddles, or selling equipment, something. I just won’t be owning any for now.
Having retired from horse training I have been working as a massage therapist for 5 years now and love it. I love working with other practitioners in an effort to aid individuals in their healing processes. My work is not spa in nature more rivaling physical therapy in nature. My clients come to me not for their relaxation or stress management, but rather to impact their physical health and as a result they manage their stress and mental peace. I have the best clientele anyone could possibly want. They make me a better person.
My daughter married a wonderful man this last fall (2008) and they are planning a family. They both want me to move closer to them and I want to be close to my daughter again and my new son-in-law so am moving to Colorado in June of 2009. The plan is for me to spend the summer there in their neck of the woods scouting out my future home and massage practice. I look forward to many hours in the wilderness fishing, canoeing, hiking and exploring Colorado’s splendor. At some point I hope to find the right spot to settled down to embrace a sustainable lifestyle.
My interests include sustainable living, green stewardship, and off grid living. I love to fish and gather berries, edible mushrooms, pinon nuts and other wild food resources. Also one might not fathom this from my current writing abilities, I want to go back to school for grammar, essay and creative writing skills. I want to write books. I love cottage business, and hope to steward my own unique niche in the cottage business world. More about that under my Dreaming Colorado pages.
Enough about me… on to the explorations within this blog. I hope you enjoy the journey.
