THANKFUL  THURSDAY

I have been anxiously awaiting for today to come since Simrat at Akal Ranch http://www.akalranch.com/ started this Thankful Thursday Meme on her blog last week (be sure to visit her blog for more thankfulness).

No, I have been biting my tongue, holding my breath, pacing the floor, counting dust particles floating in the sunlight.

I am so thankful for my life, and as mentioned in my last Thankful Thursday post, thankful for my friends, clients and family.  Something happened this week that caused me to take pause.  Yes I’m going to speak of the Inauguration and our new President.

I don’t believe for a moment that President Obama can make vast changes in our government or our lives.  That is not his job in the first place. His job is to oversee the country’s government and people, to be the bird dog that sniffs out flaws and shows us, the people, and them, our government, the direction that is best for all of us.  If we had a President who just did those things and did them well… Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt…  in othere words “LEAD”, our country would pull its own head out of its arce.  “We the People” want someone else to be the fall guy when we do not step up to the plate and do our share.  We want to blame our President and all his men, or to be politically correct, women for our consumerism.

The number one thing I am thankful for and have been since it struck me while watching the President take oath is.

1) How amazing is it that I am alive in this place in time to witness such an historic event.  Not just that President Obama represents a vast group of people who truly deserve to see a man of their creed leading our country.  Mom, your dream has finally came true!  Did I say not only?  Yes not only, because it was the HOPE and the masses representing me and you and this entire country who turned out in support of the occasion. My very being and life became so small and insignificant in the face of history that was made on January 20th, 2009.  I’m a part of that!  I am part of  that moment too!  I am here breathing in history, thankful for the simple fact that I witnessed my country rally. I’m thankful to see that our country’s people still believe in the concept of a “Leader”.

2)  I am thankful that I have finally made the decision to move to Colorado.  It has been a long and difficult process to come to a point of decisiveness.  I am thankful for that decisiveness, I am now able to plan my life and my future.

3) Recently one of my clients gave me an antique Duncan Phyfe china cabinet.  It is in mint store room condition, an absolutely beautiful piece of furniture.  I checked out its value last night.  I am humbled.  It sells for $995.00 across the board in all the places I checked.  Who gives away a anything worth $995.00??  How humbling is that? In today’s economy, people give away something worth nearly a grand, they stop everything and gather in masses…  I’m thankful for this gift, I am thankful for the gifts that my friend Simrat has bestowed upon me, I am thankful for the all of the gifts my friends and clients have given me over the past couple years.   These gifts have enriched my life.

Thank you!

This is not the actual cabinet,  it is though the actual style. This cabinet was found on Andrews Fine Antiques. http://www.andrewsfineantiques.com/galleries.html

The one I am getting is richer in color and has a highly polished finish. I just love its understated elegance. I have never dreamed of having a china cabinet. I would never have bought one.  I have always admired them yet have never dreamed…

This is a ”Never Dream” that has come true.

Thank you!
