THANKFUL THURSDAY
What am I thankful for today?
Well let’s start here. Kevin Costner I am so very thankful that I live in the times of Kevin Costner and his brand of films. The list is long.
- Silverado
- Dances With Wolves
- Field of Dreams
- Message in a Bottle
- Warter World
- Postman
- The Body Guard
- Open Range
There are many others of course all with a certain charisma and draw that leaves me longing for something more in life. It goes beyond the ‘hunky’ thing and sets in somewhere deep in my bones. When the films end I feel as though something has been living within me and still lingers not wanting to let go. No other male actor has done that for me with their connection to their audiance.
As for female actors? Hands down I am thankful for Merle Streep. Many of her characters speak to the very essance of who I am. Again after its all said and done and I walk away from the movie screen, I feel as though part of me has been left behind and that a small part of me will never be the same again.
So yes I am thankful that I live in the times of people like Kevin Costner and Merle Streep. They have enriched my life beyond words. Their characters give me pause and provide mentorship into the depths of ones very soul.
What else am I thankful for?
I am thankful that Dragon has awaken from his hybernated slumber. He awoke healthy and happy. Dragon is a Bearded Dragon who came to live with me two years ago now. I so missed his brand of lizardly company. I was so happy when he woke up the other day and looked at me with that “Hello, where have you been?” beaming from his eyes. I have never seen Dragon smile, but he seemed to smile that day when he woke up and gazed into my eyes.
I am thankful also that I have lived in Arizona during a time to see the Diamond Backs and now the Cardinals make history. Its fun to be living through events that affect so many in such happy ways.
Lastly, and for a simple thankfulness. Its not raining. That means I can clean stalls, trim feet and maybe even ride my horse!
