Colorado Update lV
Oh things are getting exciting!!! Yes I’m finally seeing light as to how things may go in Colorado once I get established. Also due to these new possibilities the Cortez and Mancos area is again in the lime light. I’m pretty certain where I am going to be living.

One of the reasons I want to live in Colorado is the sustainable lifetyle one can create for themselves. One, the local demographics are already sustainable minded, and two the altitude, and easy weather patterns of the Four Corners area is perfect for my ideas.
Okay here we go.
Idea #1) I have wanted a garden for years, but I am not your typical peas and tomatoes kinda girl. Squash! Now that is my kinda gardening. But one really must grow more than squash, Okay wild Artichokes!! YES! Oh and growing a patch of black berries is also on my mind. Throwing some spring daffodils in here or there. But the latest ideas are really getting me jived. How about organic historically correct heritage blue corn for corn flour and Anasazi beans and Hopi tobacco as seen below…

…and Bear berries…

…or canteen, ladel, and container gourds. Now I’m stoked. Not only will I be able to use the corn flour and beans for food, but I can offer them too at local farmers markets for a wee bit of cash flow. The gourds will make my home containers, and also be offered to folks who want to make their own containers or give them for gifts. There are many ways I can create cash flow from these few items, but wait!
Idea #2) I also want to make organic cheese, butter and milk. Yep, Goat products, and I have found my goat. The San Clemente Goat
.
A rare breed being preserved at this moment. They are better known as a meat producing goat, but recently are being introduced into the milk industry. This is perfect for me as I want goat meat for me and my family, and of course my goats need to produce a cheese making quality milk. It appears that the San Clemente produces a nice amount of creme, so looking good there. This is a way for me to be breeder in a preservation effort on a very small scale (eh hmmm… hehe – DUCKING!!) Yes, I know I said it. Takes a whole lot of pressure of ol’ Pro, and the resulting offspring from carefully picked parents will have homes with other preservation breeders. Perfect!
Tha’s not all folks!
Idea #3) I am looking into yet another outlet for income earning too. Buckaroo Leather and I have discussed a distributorship in Colorado. I plan to set it up as soon as I get settled in my new home.
So many easy to implement ideas all which can work together to build on a larger vision of a sustainable, organic, heritage preserving lifestyle. Swells my heart with excitement and purpose. Now I’m getting really impatient, most all of these things barring the leather goods, will be another year before I can get them started. Never ask for time to pass by too quickly, saver every moment, but now with these goals I have much to look forward to.
